The World-Class Organizations Behind MotherToBaby

MotherToBaby is powered by experts from leading universities, hospitals, and academic medical centers across the United States and Canada. Our information services connect families and healthcare providers with trained specialists who provide free, confidential, evidence-based guidance about medications, vaccines, health conditions, and other exposures during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Our network includes 10 MotherToBaby affiliates located within respected academic medical centers across the United States, along with IMAGe at CHU Sainte-Justine Hospital and Université de Montréal, which provides French-language support for healthcare professionals in Quebec, Canada.

MotherToBaby also advances pregnancy health research through MotherToBaby Pregnancy Studies, based at UC San Diego’s Center for Better Beginnings. This research program helps improve understanding of medication and other exposures during pregnancy and breastfeeding and is open to participants throughout the United States, its territories, and Canada.

Available Information Services and Research Opportunities

MotherToBaby’s free information services are available to people living in the United States and U.S. territories. Through phone, text, live chat, and email, our experts provide personalized answers based on the latest scientific evidence.

If you contact MotherToBaby, you will connect with a trained specialist from one of our university and medical center affiliates. Our experts include healthcare professionals with backgrounds in genetics, pharmacy, nursing, medicine, toxicology, and maternal-fetal health.

MotherToBaby Pregnancy Studies are available to participants living in the United States, its territories, and Canada. Based at UC San Diego’s Center for Better Beginnings, these studies help researchers better understand how medications and other exposures may affect pregnancy and infant health.

For people living outside the United States or Canada, MotherToBaby services are not available internationally. However, other organizations around the world provide similar pregnancy and breastfeeding information services and conduct related research. Learn more about international resources.

Not every institution with expertise in pregnancy and breastfeeding is an official MotherToBaby affiliate. Healthcare professionals, researchers, educators, and trainees from universities, hospitals, government agencies, and other organizations can become part of the broader professional community through membership in the Organization of Teratology Information Specialists (OTIS).

OTIS members include experts in medicine, pharmacy, genetics, nursing, epidemiology, toxicology, and public health who work together to advance knowledge about exposures during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Members contribute to scientific publications, professional education, research initiatives, and global efforts to improve maternal and infant health.
